Colin’s first journey to India in the early 1990s was a life-changing experience. Fresh from a modelling gig in Mumbai, the young Kiwi, then in his early twenties, found himself out of his depth on his first solo trip.
“I was nervous and unsure,” Colin recalls. “But it all changed when I connected with Padmaja Kumari Parmar, the daughter of the royal House of Mewar.”
What began as a leap into the unknown quickly turned into a royal welcome. Colin was introduced to India’s vibrant culture and rich history by none other than the Maharani herself. Over the years, his bond with Princess Padmaja has remained strong, and he’s excited to bring his fellow travellers to her home city of Udaipur, known as the City of Lakes.
A Passion for History and Connection
For Colin, India is more than a destination—it’s a place that fuels his lifelong love for history, culture, and connection. As a child, his father encouraged him to “open your eyes to the world,” sparking an enduring curiosity about anthropology, religion, and psychology.
“My time in India taught me that the only constant in life is change,” he reflects. “It’s a country full of contrasts—chaos, beauty, and wonder—all existing together.”
With decades of travel experience, Colin sees his role on this tour not as a guide but as a companion. “Life is about experiencing things together—sharing laughter, surprises, and even the imperfections.”

During a recent photoshoot, Colin embodied his love for elegance with an equestrian-inspired look, blending classic jodhpurs with the opulence of Royal Indian style. “I’ve always loved the equestrian aesthetic—it’s timeless and sophisticated,” he shares.
Whether donning high-fashion labels like Versace or embracing the grandeur of Indian heritage, Colin’s impeccable style enhances every adventure. “I never miss an opportunity to dress up,” he quips.

At 52, Colin reflects on a life filled with adventure, challenges, and joy. “I’m not perfect, but I’m happy,” he shares. “Life is about leaning into laughter and creating moments that matter.”
Every morning, Colin starts his day at 4 a.m., ready to embrace life’s refresh. “It’s my time to reset, reflect, and get excited about what’s to come.”
